Mahi Patel
Mahi is currently a sophomore at East Brunswick High School. She has previously taken courses such as Biology Honors, Geometry with Trigonometry Honors, Algebra I Honors, and is currently taking Chemistry Honors and Algebra 2 Honors. She is planning on taking courses that include AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, and Precalculus Honors throughout the rest of her high-school years. She is also an active member of the high school's Spanish Honors Society, where she continues to expand her knowledge of the Spanish language and culture. Additionally, Mahi participates in her high school’s Art Club and is working toward membership in the National Art Honors Society. Outside of school, Mahi volunteers at the BAPS temple, where she teaches and guides students in Bharatanatyam, a traditional Indian classical dance form. My name is Ved, and I am a Grade 10 student at SBHS. Ved is curious, competitive, and always looking for opportunities to learn, improve, and challenge myself. He enjoys exploring new subjects, developing my skills, and taking part in activities that push me to become a better student and person. His interests span academics, sports, and music, with cricket being one of the biggest parts of my life. Academically, he enjoys a wide range of subjects and is particularly interested in mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, and technology. Ved enjoys subjects that require him to think critically and understand why things work rather than simply memorize information. Mathematics interests him because of the logic and problem-solving involved. His academic interests also extend into chemistry and computer science. As he progressed through high school, he hopes to continue challenging himself academically and exploring different fields to discover where my interests can take me. Yug is a 10th-grade student at East Brunswick High School in East Brunswick, New Jersey, demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence by consistently challenging himself with rigorous coursework. In his freshman year, he successfully completed Biology Honors, Algebra II Honors, English Honors, and U.S. History Honors, alongside a variety of engaging electives, and is now expanding his academic horizons in the 10th grade by taking advanced courses including AP U.S. History and AP Government and Politics. With a deep interest in math and a drive to always push his limits, Yug's academic journey is further distinguished by the fact that he is one grade ahead, having moved to the U.S.A. from the U.K. at a young age—putting him on track to graduate college a year early. Beyond the classroom, Yug is exceptionally active and dedicated, with his true passion lying in cricket, a sport he has played for over four and a half years; practicing up to 8 to 15 hours a week, his deep dedication and leadership skills truly shine through as the captain of his team. Having served on the Student Council for multiple years and previously participating in the We the People program in 8th grade, Yug also continues to foster his love for debate and public policy through tryouts for Model United Nations and Mock Trial. His love for STEM is channeled through his active participation in FIRST Astraea Robotics FRC #6897. Soham is a Freshman(14 turning 15) at Monroe Township High School in Monroe Township, New Jersey. Throughout his academics he has always held himself to the highest standards, taking advanced and honors classes in many core subjects(Honors Algebra I, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, Advanced ELA(3 years), Honors Language Arts, Honors World History, Honors Italian II). In all 3 years of Middle School, Soham was awarded Principle’s list, and won the Honors Geometry and Italian awards for his year. During Middle School, he was a part of the MTMS Math Team, where he competed in many competitions. This includes Math Olympiad, Math Counts, AMC8(top score in his year), and Math League(top score in his year in 7th and 8th Grade). While on his school’s Science Olympiad Team, he placed 8th in both events he competed in. He also participated in a program in his school called History Happened Here, where he researched and set up a presentation that the First Lady of New Jersey(Tammy Murphy) at the time attended. Outside of school, Soham enjoys chess, which he has been playing since he was in elementary school. He’s competed in many competitions in his state as well as joining his school’s chess club. When he has free time, you’ll often find him playing videogames, usually with his brother. This can be sports games like 2K or Madden, or it can be some of his favorite games such as the Red Dead Redemption series or Ace Attorney. His biggest interest though is in sports. Cricket, the sport he’s been playing for over half his life, is very important to him. He met many of his friends through cricket, as well as learned many things. He feels cricket has made him a more disciplined, honest, and respectful person. Cricket is where many of his most cherished memories and relationships come from. He loves other sports just as much though, basketball(he supports the Orlando Magic) and football(he supports the New York Jets) are some of his favorite pastimes, even though he’s not too good at them. When he has free time, you’ll often find him playing videogames, usually with his brother. Anyhow, Soham is dedicated to his academics, athletics, and friends, yet his main goal is to make sure he stays fully committed to whatever he chooses to do.

Dhiya Selvakumar is a junior at Bridgewater Raritan Regional High School. She has been leading the New Jersey chapter for 3 years, and has taken a wide variety of STEM related classes throughout high school. She has thrived in Honors Biology, Honors Algebra 2, and AP CSP in her freshman year and has dived into Honors Chemistry and Honors Precalculus her sophomore year. As a junior, she she is excited to explore AP Calculus BC, AP Research, and AP Biology! In school, Dhiya has been a part of many STEM related clubs such as HOSA and Waksman at BR. She currently holds the secretary position in Women in STEM and Cancer Kids First. Other than STEM related activities, Dhiya is an avid member of her school’s cross country team, and has placed in a variety of her meets. She has an ambition for the arts, and is continuing her choral journey through a selective program at school. In addition, Dhiya has been in Indian classical dance from age 6, and recently graduated from the art form in early June.

Megha volunteers in the emergency room of Robert Wood Johnson Hospital answering patient distress call bells, restocking medical cabinets, or performing tasks that doctors and nurses request. She is the founder of Senior Smiles, a non-profit organization where teenage volunteers visit residents at a local nursing home. Her initiative was recognized on the CMHQ Global blog, an international organization that focuses on youth-led impact. She also has been working at Kumon since she was a freshman. Additionally, is Treasurer of New Jersey's Youth Medical Association and aspires to one day be a surgeon.

She has also completed STEM I/II and Intro to Computer Science classes. Being a member of her schools Model UN team, she has also attended multiple conferences. She aspires to further her interest in medicine. This summer, Grishmaa was accepted into a prestigious week-long science camp at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and will also participate in a research program on molecular biology and bioinformatics at Rutgers University. Janya Samanthika Arunkumar is a sophomore at Rowan University, and is part of the 3+4 BS/MD Accelerated 7-year Medicine Program that is affiliated with Cooper Medical School. She will be graduating next year with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, and moving on to Cooper Medical School, where she will get her MD. She is part of Rowan’s Honors Program, taking on difficult classes in the sciences, and going to take Biochemistry this semester. Aside from classes, she is currently doing research working to build a diagnostic for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). She also works as a pharmacy technician, and volunteers at a hospital. Nishita Chavan is currently a Sophmore at East Brunswick Highschool in New Jersey. He is treasurer of his quiz bowl club and president of his School’s chess club. He is engaged in a project to use Napoleon's personal letters to construct a research paper that showcases his military strategies and tactics, purely based primary sources. He loves to read books, ranging from mathematics and science to history and geography, fostering his passion for learning new things . Additionally, he scored a 1580 on his SAT first try with a perfect math subsection, and that extended to his PSAT. He is also a 3-year varsity soccer athlete, and holds fluency in tamil. Outside of school, Ashwin loves reading, watching anime, volunteering at his local food pantry, playing chess, and trying new things.
